In recent developments, a top African crypto exchange: the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), has partnered with Hedera and has become a member of the Hedera Council. As announced by Hedera, “The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), a leading African Exchange, has officially joined the Hedera Council to accelerate tokenization initiatives using the Hedera network.”

Notably, the new partnership deal highlights the NSE’s commitment to promoting securities tokenization in Kenya’s and Africa’s capital markets.

Speaking on the new development in a celebratory post on X, Frank Mwiti, the NSE CEO stated, “Tokenization has the potential to transform industries across Africa, and the NSE is committed to driving this innovation through the Hedera network, which is valued for its unmatched performance, security, and compliance standards.”

Perks For the NSE on Hedera’s Governing Council

For context, the Hedera Council governs the organization’s open-source network and makes all the decisions affecting Hedera’s subsidiaries. With the new integration, the NSE is now a contributor to the decision-making processes at Hedera.

Accordingly, this aligns with the NSE’s goal of driving tokenization in the country and the continent. This follows the NSE leveraging Hedera’s latest blockchain technology: the Asset Tokenization Studio, to simplify the NSE’s tokenization onboarding.

The Asset Tokenization Studio will also enhance the NSE’s tokenized asset management, scalability and network security. Meanwhile, the partnership gives the NSE opportunities to network and collaborate with other members of the Hedera Council to execute its goals and build lasting digital trade solutions.

Benefits for Hedera

Hedera’s global presence has extended into Africa following the NSE’s identity. While promoting tokenization in the continent, Hedera will become a key player in the African digital asset industry.

By providing the platform for the NSE to seamlessly tokenize real-world assets (RWA) in Africa, the network will enhance the continent’s financial outlook.
