Afropolitan is a relatively new Web3 platform and concept that seeks to build a “digital nation” of Africans. In their manifesto, Afropolitan states, “We are building a network comprising the best that Africa and the diaspora offer across art, finance, tech, health, energy, sports, and media.”
Notably, the project began as a pan-African network community instituted to help millions of Africans “live their most abundant lives.” Currently, Afropolitan is priming to be the centre stage promoting cryptocurrency adoption in the continent.
Also noteworthy is that the project features the Afropolitan Citizens NFT which platforms like OpenSea offered for sale. These digital artworks incorporated the rich art history of Africa and the founding of Afropolitan.
“We have curated 500 works of art – each represented by its own unique character – that signify the pioneering 500 members of our emerging society.” Interestingly, this NFT collection is sold out.
Afropass
The project has launched Afropass, a digital pass that allows holders access to exclusive “premium African experiences”. For context, the experiences comprise a pool of African talent, culture, art, history, information and capital.
Moreover, the Afropass application simplifies digital international payments enabling users to make payments in fiat currency and crypto at establishments like restaurants. Also, the app enables other transactions including buying tickets to major events.
Accordingly, the platform partners with event planners in countries like Nigeria and Ghana to host exclusive events.
Afropolitan: Reshaping Tech in Africa
A platform that began as a network community with a rich NFT collection is now seeking to build a wholesome digital state for Africans. Accordingly, the platform has incorporated notable Africans including Jude Abaga, a popular Nigerian singer, Fatima Dicko, the founder of Sugar, a US-based real estate company, etc.
With Afropass, users can transact seamlessly with stablecoins and fiat currency. You can also join the network here and connect with African innovators to actively participate in building an African digital nation.
