Zanzibar Unveils Blockchain Sandbox: A Boost for Tech Startups

zanzibar

The Tanzanian government has launched a blockchain sandbox platform in Zanzibar, where aspiring tech startups can test-run their services before their full launch. Notably, the blockchain sandbox is enabled by the Xinfin network in partnership with LedgerFi IT Solutions.

Accordingly, the platform was classified as the National Blockchain Sandbox after its unveiling. Notably, this innovation places Zanzibar as a landmark for pre-launch tech startups to examine their products.

For context, the program would provide an isolated and controlled environment, flexibility, customizability, security and scalability required for trial runs. The startups could examine metrics like supply chain management, identity verification,  smart contracts, etc.

According to local media, Seif Said, Zanzibar’s e-Government Authority Director General (DG) described the program’s goal as integrating blockchain, artificial intelligence and other evolving technologies to promote tech startups in the region.

The DG further highlighted the importance of onboarding this tech while announcing that the National Blockchain Sandbox would start accepting interested tech startups. Significantly, Seif Said stressed that those startups with financial inclusion and digitization solutions stood better chances of being accepted.

Blockchain Sandbox Program: Benefits for Tech Startups in Zanzibar

According to Seif Said, tech startups would benefit from experts and industry leaders when they collaborate with the program. This would streamline their debut projects and market products.

Also, the Zanzibar DG explained that the tech startups with the most impactful solutions could receive further training and assistance from the government, outside the blockchain sandbox. With this support, the startups would receive an extra boost to thrive in the highly competitive tech market.

Moreover, the program is a great marketplace for venture capitalists and founders looking to invest in the next big tech startup. Notably, sponsoring these African-based startups will boost tech onboarding in the continent and elevate the African tech industry to top-player rank in a global setting.
